Tips for remote learning
(1) Establish a routine. Structure and predictability help kids feel safe. Building in short breaks will help them stay more focused overall.
(2) Make a space. Creating a room or spot that is dedicated to work and/or learning helps everyone stay better organized and feel more prepared.
(3) Get dressed. Getting out of your pajamas can help you feel ready to take on the day!
(2) Move your body. Use breaks to do some stretching, yoga (resources linked below), or lunges.
(3) Get outside. A little fresh air can help you to feel rejuvenated. Open a window or grab your mask and go for a walk (weather permitting). The outdoors is never closed!
(4) Practice gratitude. In times of uncertainty, write down three things you are grateful for to improve your emotional well being.
(5) Unplug. Schedule time away from your computer, phone, or other device to do an activity you enjoy. This might be reading a book or magazine, writing in a journal, baking something, playing a board game with a family member, or snuggling up with a pet.

Crisis Intervention Resources
If a child, friend, or classmate you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, here's what you can do:
Additional Crisis Support :
- During school hours, notify a teacher, school counselor, or administrator as soon as possible.
- After school hours (3:45pm on school days, weekends, and holidays), call the CPS Student Safety Center Hotline: 773-553-3335
- The CPS Student Safety Hotline is available for immediate response and will help connect you with resources and provide guidance for next steps. Then, alert a school staff member about the call.
- Call the Illinois CARES Screening, Assessment, and Support Services (SASS) Hotline for immediate support for children experiencing a mental health crisis. Crisis services will be provided at school or at home.
Additional Crisis Support :
- If you suspect abuse, call the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) 24 hour Hotline at 800-25-ABUSE or 800-252-2873
- Chicago Children's Advocacy Center
